The police investigated a suspicious package found at 19th Street BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station in Oakland during commuting hours this morning on Tuesday. The BART station was closed temporarily until it was clear to operate because of the suspicious package investigation. Transit shuttle buses were provided for passengers during BART closing time and dogs were provided by police to determine the package for assurance. Passengers were informed to enter from a different location to enter shuttle buses for alternative transportation.

The electric power was out during this morning within areas surrounding Berkeley and East Bay locations at 9:35 AM. The power outage impacted local schools, businesses, and residents including BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) transportation. It was frustrating and inconvenient for commuting passengers because BART was shut down temporarily until power is restored. Traffic on roadways were backed up because of power outage and making it inconvenient for local residents including local businesses and high schools.

Traveling during the modern times are becoming more innovative in many ways, including environmental ways of flying across the ocean. People witnessed this past weekend an airplane landed at Moffett Field in Mountain View, California, after taking off from Hawaii and flew over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. The solar Impulse-2 aircraft is currently in Moffett Field after successfully landing Saturday when the wind condition was okay for landing. The Impulse-2 aircraft mission is to fly across the world and become the world's biggest experimental plane.

A recent report indicates 23% drop for commuters on buses and/or light-railway for working class people in southern San Francisco Bay Area. The VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) public transportation system serves Santa Clara County and commuting ridership has been dropped since 2001. The VTA officials will have to make rationale decisions on how to increase commuting ridership on VTA buses and light-railway trains. VTA transit agency administration is considering to redesign the system on how to become more faster, reliable, and more dependable for passengers.

A joint development project for Highway 101 and 84 Interchange Improvement Project in the Peninsula within San Francisco Bay Area is pending for implementation. The City of Redwood City and San Mateo Country Transportation Authority is proposing the project to ease vehicular traffic along identified roadways. The project will add lanes and widen them as necessary, and reconstruct highway ramps to interchange accordingly without problems.

The muni transit lanes in San Francisco painted red along Mission street for muni buses and taxis only is becoming a potential problem for local business. The local muni riders see it differently because it helps muni passengers board muni buses quicker than it was, and helping muni bus lines make it efficient for muni services. The Mission Street "red carpet" lanes controversy appears to raise questions for Supervisor David Campos. He wants to have a community meeting and would like to hear directly from local residents and muni riders.

Working class people in San Francisco Bay Area commute everyday to work and back home thereafter working hours. Part of an effort to ease traffic congestion on highways and roadways in the Bay Area is encouraging people to use public transportation. BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) has been used by many people within San Francisco Bay Area, and recently received new train cars for passengers. BART administration is also facing approximately $477 million budget deficit within the next 10 years because revenues are slowly decreasing.

Safety and health issues within transit systems in San Francisco Bay Area has been on top of the list for attention. Caltrain transportation system has been trying to have their safety issues of concern resolved, and didn't reach their installation goals as planned in 2015. Caltrain was planning to install a safety system called PTC (Positive Train Control) for transporting trains to make it safer for passengers. The PTC safety system will operate automatically if the train engineering operator goes over the speed limit, and sends a signal to slow the train from any dangerous situation.

Some people in San Francisco Bay Area continues to drive their personal cars, regardless of commuting traffic congestion on freeways and roadways within the Bay Area. People who are driving Honda personal cars received letters from local Honda Auto dealers because of the recall in February for Honda cars with defective airbags. The Honda airbags are manufactured by Takata and affecting approximately 34 million people nationwide including San Francisco Bay Area.

As traffic congestion continues to become a problem in San Francisco, vehicle parking is also a continual problem and nearly $5 million for unclaimed parking citation reimbursement is revealed. Because about 12,000 people filed claims with the city for refunds within $1 million for parking citation reimbursements, and nearly $5 million are unclaimed for reimbursements. The parking reimbursement funding amount will be redirected to San Francisco's general fund, and allocations are subject to the direction of Mayor's Office.
