Some tech companies continue to shuttle their employees to and from work everyday, and Facebook is contributing $1 million for a transportation study for improvement. Facebook Headquarter is right along one of the worse traffic congestion areas in San Francisco Bay Area, and perhaps the study will provide feasible information for transportation improvement.

The Caltrain system in San Francisco Bay Area has been going through many safety issues recently, with elevated suicides and accidental deaths on railway train tracks. The Caltrain transit agency is now testing a safety system called PTC (Positive Train Control) electronic system and hopefully prevent some safety issues. The PTC system has been delayed from installation as anticipated to have it done before the end of 2015. It's a technology system that operates using the GPS global system to help control trains from speeding and providing safety information.

The new year 2016 starts with new state laws to ensure transportation elements within State of California are secured to protect people. A total of 807 new state laws are in place effective January 1, 2016, and some laws are now changed for drivers and bicyclists protection. Therefore, drivers and bicyclists are prohibited from wearing both earbuds/earplugs on both ears while operating a car or riding a bicycle. The driver or bicyclist should have one ear open for surrounding sounds, especially emergency vehicles, while driving and/or operating a bicycle on the road.

San Francisco Bay Area residents now have rain to overcome the longstanding drought for families and farmers, including hardship for local commuting drivers and may cause car accidents. A traffic accident in San Francisco this morning involves a truck and Muni light-rail vehicle on T-Third line around 9:17 AM in a Bayview District location. The operator for muni light-rail and four people with non-life threatening injuries were transported to local hospitals for care and observation.

The Super Bowl 50 Hosting Committee in San Francisco Bay Area is partnering with transportation agencies to honor a historical game in the Bay Area. The partnership with MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) has produced 3 new types of clipper cards within a limited time period. These new collectible items are souvenirs honoring the NFL (National Football League) Super Bowl 50 in San Francisco Bay Area. Only a limited-edition number of these new clipper cards are processed, and these are aligned with other sporting team events in the Bay Area.

The party people on New Year's Eve will get free bus rides by AC Transit across the bay, starting at 8 PM until 5 AM on New Year's Day. AC Transit issued a press release to share with people and communities, with an effort of safely transporting passengers during the New Year's Eve activities. Buses will operate a normal weekday schedule on Thursday and Sunday's schedule on Friday - New Year's Day. It's an effort as a way of encouraging people to leave their cars at home and allow alternative safe transportation.

All airlines flying in and out of major airports in San Francisco Bay Area receives feedback survey by passengers, on what's painful during airline flights and traveling. A new survey called Airline Pain Index by Qualtrics identify 3 main reasons why passengers will change airlines because of poor services. The index survey top 3 reasons are as follow: 1) lost of luggage, 2) hidden fees, and 3) unfriendly airline flight crews. Some passengers understand that flights may be cancelled or delayed, and passengers will raise trigger points by these types of flight elements.

The milestone number of passengers flying in and out of a San Francisco Bay Area major airport hits today with new records since 1997. SFO (San Francisco International Airport) hits a new record of 50 million traveling passengers annually today on Wednesday, December 30, 2015. A historical passenger making that mark is Katheryn Castanga of Arlington, Virginia, as soon as she arrived at SFO. She is a regular frequent traveler at SFO on Virgin America airlines and was awarded round-trip tickets to Hawaii.

The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California, will be reconfigured to ease traffic during commuting hours for San Francisco Bay Area commuters across the iconic bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge lanes were changed recently to have some traffic control on the bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge officials in partnership with Highway and Transportation District have agreed to reconfigure the bridge lanes in January 2016. The reconfiguration approach is because of increasing traffic for working class people and successful completion of Presidio Parkway Project.

The public transportation fares for some transit services in San Francisco Bay Area is increasing effective next year. This includes San Francisco BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) services fare increase beginning Friday, January 1, 2016 affecting the whole system. The BART 3.4 percent increase was approved by the board and it equates to 10-15 cents fare increase for passengers. These fare increases will be in place during every even calendar year until 2020 as part of the stipulated agreement by the BART Board.
