The City of San Francisco administrators surveyed a pending increase for residential parking in San Francisco. The San Francisco MTA (Municipal Transportation Agency) surveyed 2,300 plus local residents including community public meetings for parking permits. The 41 questionnaire survey results are in place from 39% of respondents can find local parking in 5 or less minutes when they get home. About 44% local residents shared they pay $100 - $250 for street parking per month if they pay through rent or mortgage.

Many people have been questioning their safety when traveling on highways in San Francisco Bay Area and nationwide. The GAO (Government Accounting Office) administrators released a report yesterday, sharing a failing assessment testing procedures for highways guardrail systems. Some people said, "those highway guardrails are suppose to protect drivers and passengers from vehicular accidents." The State of California highways have approximately 3600 of those guardrail systems called ET-Plus since an inventory by Caltrans during 2014.

The Caltrain Board of Directors unanimously approved yesterday some changes for trains to become electrified. Many passengers like the conceptual approach to save our natural environment in transportation systems within San Francisco Bay Area. The new transit train system changes will cost $1.25 billion in contracts, and Caltrain officials are hoping to have diesel engines change to electrified powered engines during 2020. The new train system will also have bathrooms onboard each train for passengers usage as necessary.

As vehicular traffic in San Francisco Bay Area highways and roadways are getting worse everyday, alternative transportation could be using ferry services for commuters. The Tideline Marine Group agency is proposing to offer ferry commuter services from Berkeley to San Francisco. The identified agency envisions commuter private services the same way technology companies are providing shuttle services for their employees. The procedural process is going through PUC (Public Utilities Commission) for services review and approval of the operation.

The longer check-in lines for passengers at airports nationwide and San Francisco Bay Area comes with safety and airport security issues. National TSA (Transportation Security Administration) is experimenting computerized systems to expedite the process of screening airport passengers. The TSA federal officials announced on Tuesday about expanding more testing to speed-up airport passengers lines and improving security. Airport passengers may have to check their carry-on bags using CT scans for inspection at airport pre-check points to make the process quicker.

The pedestrian safety issues in San Francisco aligned with vehicular traffic will have more changes in the future. The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) local traffic projects will plan more changes to avoid pedestrian fatalities. Because of the latest pedestrian fatality of an elderly person hit by a Paratransit bus last month, SFMTA plans to make some improvement safety changes aligned with traffic. The Walk SF pedestrian advocacy group is working closely with city administrators for more changes to protect pedestrians.

The transportation systems nationwide has to become the safest and healthy for people as part of the American Dream! Unfortunately, that's becoming to be problematic because of some vehicles having ongoing problems - ongoing vehicle recalls, etc. The government agency NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) is overseeing and investigating two latest vehicle incidents. 1) NHTSA is investigating Tesla Motors because of the death of a driver who died during a vehicular crash in Williston, Florida on May 7, 2016, and driving his Tesla Model-S car that slammed into a tractor.

The people will have a chance to ride in new BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) trains during the opening for extension lines in Contra Costa County, California. The new BART trains arrived yesterday with a celebration on hand with BART administrators and elected officials. The extension train project is under construction and possibly open for operation ahead of scheduling. The BART extension project costs $525 million and expects to have 5,600 passengers onboard during the opening year.

Transportation in the future will be different in San Francisco because of a subway transit system under construction. Some local residents are displaced because of the construction project for the future of subway trains going into Chinatown. Approximately 14 household families are displaced and fortunately the city is helping with housing for all displaced families. The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) Board of Directors approved the rental subsidy for displaced families from $28,188 to $39,744.

Traveling within San Francisco Bay Area can become problematic during air flights and ground transportation with traffic congestion. Including fare increase for transit buses, Golden Gate Bridge tolls, and ferry services for commuters and working class people effective this Friday. This fare increase approach includes one-way fares for ferry service commuter using Clipper cards at Larkspur and Sausalito ferry stations. Carpool and Fastrak vehicles will also have to pay increasing toll fees while crossing across the bridge.
