The Richmond-San Rafael Bridge development for bicycle lanes on the westbound bridge direction is questionable for it's usage and feasibility. Some MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) officials are sharing concerns about therein additional lane can be used for vehicular traffic relief. Part of therein bridge development discussion is having a 10 foot wide north side lane of the upper bridge deck for vehicular traffic. The bicyclists and pedestrians can use therein space with a movable median barrier to separate vehicular traffic during that time of usage.

The GGNRA (Golden Gate National Recreation Area) announced visitors will need to have parking reservations when visiting Muir Woods National Monument effective today on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. The national monument in Marin County, California is one of the most visited location by local Bay Area residents and touring groups. The required parking reservation applies for personal cars and/or shuttling vehicles in which is managed by Ace Parking Management Inc. for a smooth operation.

The LimeBike company in San Mateo is sharing concerns with JUMP Mobility e-bikes contractual permit of operation in San Francisco. The JUMP Mobility operational permit was approved and issued by SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) for e-bikes local usage in the city. An arbitration agreement between SFMTA and operating agency for JUMP Mobility provides an opportunity for e-bikes to expand locally. The LimeBike CEO (Chief Executive Officer) is requesting SFMTA to reopen the process for bicycle operational permits and public hearing.

The bicyclists within San Francisco Bay Area may have a selection of e-bikes transporting them from place-to-place in the Bay Area. The Ford GoBike is planning to launch 250 e-bikes during April 2018 as part of the pilot project, and e-bikes are produced locally by GenZe in Fremont. The e-bikes are pedal assisted with a 345 watt-hourly lithium battery and could have a speed range of up to 18 miles per hour. It also shows the e-bike speed as well as battery charging levels and it will be at docking stations within the San Francisco.

The Google company hired 30 employees to save their bikes from burglars because local thieves are stealing its onsite bicycles. The Google company is changing Silicon Valley including free company bikes to help local employees get around onsite geographical locations. However, the company estimates between 100 to 250 bikes disappear within a weekly basis and hopefully hired employees will help decrease numerically disappearing bikes. The Google company is also testing some bikes with installed tracking systems along with locking devices.

The traffic fatalities in San Francisco shows decrease by one-third last year in 2017 comparing to therein previous year in 2016. The Vision Zero adopted by San Francisco during 2014 has a goal of zero fatalities by 2024 by making city streets safer for drivers and pedestrians. Including ways and means of redesigning local city streets and enforcement to ensure pedestrians are safe when walking along city streets. The resourceful data shows 20 traffic fatalities in 2017 (14 pedestrians) and 30 traffic fatalities in 2016.

The Port of San Francisco is reissuing the procedural process for bidding investors to repair the historic Pier-70 in San Francisco. The funding standardized levels have not been assessed for development and pier repairs will depend on how and what size of ship therein operator will use. The port officials will reissue RFPs (Request For Proposals) on February 27, 2018 for RFP intentional considerations. The shipyard has been under different operators since the Gold Rush and steelworkers built Transbay Tube during 1971.

The Caltrain transit agency approved new policies to track down passengers trying to get free rides and start issuing penalty tickets. Because current data shows approximately 2,100 passengers are provided verbal warnings every month and some passengers get upset with violent behaviors - penalty tickets will start in April 2018. Those violent passengers start attacking Caltrain operators/conductors and police officers are informed along with the train being delayed.

The passengers riding BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) trains are experiencing higher rates to start the new year. Because effective on New Year's Day all BART riding fares increased up to 2.7% and it happens every other year in San Francisco Bay Area. Including 50 cents charge for passengers using paper tickets and not passengers using Clippers to ride BART trains. The BART effort is to encourage people to use Clipper Cards to avoid hardship for ongoing maintenance and provides more efficiency for the system.
