The Caltrain Station underpass project by VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) in Santa Clara County wins 2018 Golden State Award. Therein award is presented by ACEC (American Council of Engineering Companies) to recognize and honor outstanding projects with engineering partnership in California. The honorary award was presented during the banquet event and many projects were selected from 55 different projects statewide. The VTA Caltrain underpass project provides pedestrians and bicyclists a safety pathway to use Caltrain transit for transportation.

The safety lights project for an underpass pathway in Marin County to connect two cities between Sausalito and Marin within San Francisco Bay Area. The North Bay members of an advocacy group called "Tunnel Light Brigade" was able to work closely with Marin County Department of Public Works and Caltrans for therein project improvement. The safety lights improvement project will happen during this Spring season and construction is planning to begin in March. The contract amount of $108,000 is awarded to install safety lights for therein tunnel underpass below Highway 101.

The Caltrain is constructing new improvement elements for safety within Redwood City to enhance safety reasoning for drivers and pedestrians. The Caltrain services will not be interrupted and some temporary roadways will be closed for painting signs and sidewalk construction for safety improvement projects. The safety improvement project activities will happen on weekdays between 7 AM and 3 PM, and some sidewalks will be temporarily closed for construction.

The SamTrans transit agency board approved the purchase of 55 new transit buses serving San Mateo County, and therein buses will be more environmentally friendly for passengers. The new transit buses will cost $48.9 million and primary costing amounts will be included in FTA (Federal Transit Administration) funding. The new buses will replace 2002 articulated model transit buses because of their overly used and reached it's lifetime usage regarding FTA regulations.

The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) is starting to receive their new electric trolley buses as they arrive during this week. The new trolley buses are going through a procedural safety testing process before rolling them out on San Francisco streets. The new electric trolley buses will operate standard routes using street overhead wire lines and they can operate several miles without therein connected wire lines. The trolley bus operators can reattach therein wire lines back on track by pushing a button and it can save traveling time.

The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) announced about $386 million federal funding is ready to be released for regional transportation projects. The federal funding allocation will be released throughout nine regional counties for 180 improvement projects in San Francisco Bay Area. The MTC administration will use the OBAG2 (One Bay Area Grant 2) format with a procedural process to release therein federal funding. The MTC approved OBAG2 program of projects during the end of 2017 and funding will be released directly for active transportation projects.

The City of Redwood City is planning transportation improvement projects within therein jurisdiction and safety is becoming a top priority. The plan draft has been released for public review before execution to ensure public input is part of the plan for effectiveness. The city staffing has been having public meetings for local residents to actually see what is planning to happen for transportation projects. The safety elements for therein project draft has been raised as a top priority, and recommending to include the Vision Zero strategy in the plan.

The President Donald Trump announced he is donating $100,000 for transportation infrastructure during the administration meeting with local and state officials. The president unveiled his administration $1.5 trillion transportation infrastructure plans for the crumbling highways and roadways nationwide. It means San Francisco Bay Area highways and local roadways will receive more federal funding to repair and rebuild highway bridges. In fact, some of local municipalities have received federal funding for local transportation improvement projects. The U.S.

The latest transportation expert marketing reports car crashing nationwide by drivers using cell phones and becoming distracting drivers. The report identifies 1 out of 10 fatal car crashes nationwide every year is because of distracted drivers using cell phones. It unfortunately kills at least 300 people every year in some states nationwide, and the State of Texas is ranked the worst with cell phone distracted drivers.

The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) received $356,422 funding to purchase and replace small muni buses in San Francisco. The SFMTA successfully received therein funding award from SFCTA (San Francisco County Transportation Authority) for transit assistance. The SFMTA small muni buses will certainly help operators/drivers navigate transit buses along narrow city roadways and tight corners. The plan is having 30 small buses added to SFMTA fleet by 2020, and operating for passengers along narrow roadways and city hills.
