The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) added a new feature to San Francisco Bay Area 511 traveler information system. The new feature is called Alexa with assistance by Amazon's personal assistant to help secure real-time traffic status and transit information. The virtual personal assistant Alexa can provide therein traffic information by accessing it through any Alexa enabled devices including Echo, Dot or Tap. The enabled Alexa device can provide travelers with traffic and/or transit information by going to the 511 SF Bay skill page.

The APTA (American Public Transportation Association) administration recognizes another San Francisco Bay Area transit agency for environmental transit services commitment. The APTA recognized SamTrans and Caltrain transit service agencies for implementing the procedural process, to improve social relations, economic sustainability, and environmental protection. Including continual transit activities and actions to support public transportation, to ensure passengers are safe and healthy during their traveling in the Bay Area.

The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) is planning to open the third commuter lane at the Richmond-San Rafael bridge on Friday, April 20, 2018. The booming economy in San Francisco Bay Area has been putting more cars on freeways and roadways, with hopes therein new commuter lane will help with traffic congestion. There will be digital traffic control signals on top of the new commuter lane for drivers to obey while using the lane. Including cameras to capture violating drivers on the bridge and CHP (California Highway Patrol) officers will issue citations for violators.

The San Francisco City Attorney sent letters to all dockless electric scooter companies to immediately cease and desist their operation because of many health and safety complaints. The City Attorney, Dennis Herrera, is giving all scooter operating companies until Monday, April 30, 2018 time to provide a report on how therein complaints can be addressed and resolved. The San Francisco Board of Supervisors would decide on an operational permit process through SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) for electric scooters.

The local legislators in San Francisco Bay Area are advocating for more timely BART services to SFO (San Francisco International Airport). The administrators from local transportation agencies are working closely with some legislators to have available BART timely services for SFO airport stops. The BART planning advocacy staffing is going through some barriers of therein effort, to help with more adequate airport timely stops from Millbrae BART Station.

The San Francisco Public Works crew collected 66 electric scooters in the city and confiscated for public storage until it's paid for discharge by ownership companies. The San Francisco city administration received more and more complaints about electric scooters laying on sidewalks, and on local streets without anyone taking care of it. It becomes dangerous for pedestrians and other people walking on sidewalks and city streets. Therefore, San Francisco Public Works Department took action on confiscating 66 electric scooters to ensure pedestrians are safely walking on city sidewalks.

The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) have their muni electric buses on San Francisco streets for passenger services. All SFMTA muni electric buses are on city streets and operators/drivers are fully trained with operational skills and passenger's safety. The new muni electric fleet buses are designed for reliable and dependable services for passengers. The electric trolley buses can go for a greater distance without wiring connections along with upgraded battery power for operation.

The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) has been testing cameras on undisclosed highway locations to catch carpool lane cheaters on local highways. The MTC administration is hoping therein cameras will catch many carpool lane cheaters, and it may help ease some traffic congestion in San Francisco Bay Area. The highway cameras can record and count people in each vehicle traveling on carpool lanes because it requires two people. The CHP (California Highway Patrol) officers have issued 64,000 tickets for carpool lane cheaters in 2016 and increased from 39,600 in 1010.

The VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) board finally approved therein single-bore methodology for the Silicon Valley transit extension project. The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) Phase-II extension project will use the single-bore and not twin-bore for BART tunnels in Silicon Valley. The local downtown business communities in San Jose and South Bay highly recommends therein single-bore tunneling method. Because it's less disruptive with ongoing construction for the VTA and BART partnership extension project.

The SamTrans transit agency Board of Directors approved a mobility app for customer services enhancement and trip planning for passengers. The SamTrans agency provides transit services for San Mateo County and therein mobility app will provide technical support for customer experience. The SamTrans board awarded Bytemark Inc. of Seattle, Washington for therein mobility app solution at a cost of $478,000 for two years contract. The mobility app will provide passengers with arrival and/or departure transit bus times and ridership tickets.
