The contract was awarded to a Sacramento company that would provide newly designed muni railway system cars, and it should be in operation during 2016.

The Governor of California signed into law AB2293 legislating insurance for TNC cars (Uber, Lyft, etc.) to have appropriate insurance coverage for passengers, and this will provide appropriate insurance to protect passengers while traveling in Uber and Lyft cars. Taxi drivers have been complaining about this issue and happy about this new law taking effect during next summer, and this will provide an equal playing field with appropriate insurance standards protecting passengers.

The new laws protecting people riding bicycles in California takes affect yesterday hoping to avoid any future accidents, and providing buffering safety zone for both drivers and bicyclists on the road. The state legislature approved the new law and signed by the governor with new changes to reflect protection on both sides, and educating drivers for protection of people riding bikes. The accidents involving bicycles in California surpassed 150 during 2012 and 7% more from previous years, and no determination for increased casualties.

The Bay Area Bike Share Program has been providing alternative ways and means of support for commuters, using public transportation including bicycles for transportation especially working class people. The board is concerned about legal and illegal drugs driving the force within transportation.
