The VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) transit agency is reminding passengers that commuting fares will begin on Saturday, August 1, 2020 in South Bay. The VTA is preparing transit buses to have appropriate protections for driving operators when passengers are paying their commuting fares. The transit buses will have plastic partitions to limit physical contacts between driving operators and passengers. The transit maintenance crews will continue cleaning the buses with disinfectants to protect passengers and operating drivers.

The SolTrans public transit agency is providing free express services for the whole month with the BOGO (Buy One Get One) 31 day pass in North Bay. The SolTrans BOGO transit promotional pass is to help get commuting passengers during these challenging times created by therein COVID-19 Shelter-In-Place orders. The SolTrans transit pass promotion is for 1 year during July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021 with one application per household. The passengers can use therein BOGO transit pass to ride SolTrans transit buses in North Bay for free during the month.

The Caltrain transit agency releasing their sustainability report of operation in West Bay within San Francisco Bay Area. The report includes environmental impacts within the Bay Area to reduce greenhouse gas emissions before and after therein COVID-19 health pandemic. The report identifies Caltrain has been able to keep cars off the freeways before the COVID-19 impact to save our Bay Area environment. The Caltrain transit is going through funding challenges like other transit agencies in the Bay Area because of the COVID-19 health pandemic.

The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) is rolling out more Slow Streets in San Francisco to help local residents and business communities in West Bay. The SFMTA Slow Streets Program is to provide physical distancing for people in The City during the COVID-19 health pandemic. Including ways to share spaces for people using bicycles and scooters for traveling to work without using muni buses and/or personal cars. Because the SFMTA Slow Streets Program is showing 80% supportive by local residents and business communities to avoid vehicle traffic congestion.

The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) agency is upgrading the concrete platform at El Cerrito del Norte Station on Monday, July 20, 2020. It's part of the BART improvement projects during lower ridership times to avoid any major problems with passengers when ridership picks up to higher numbers. The BART contractor's construction crew will replace and resurface the concrete at therein plaza outside the gates. The BART staffing will ensure one ticket machine is accessible at all times for passengers during constructions.

The SMART (Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit) Board of Directors are reaching out to hear directly from local residents about transit needs in North Bay. The election season is here and SMART train agency board is approaching to have local community forums. Because the local voters rejected a SMART Train ballot measure during last elections and disapproved Measure I for SMART funding. The SMART board agreed to have therein community forums to begin next month in August 2020, and determining local support from voters for future tax initiatives.

The Caltrain transit agency in San Francisco Bay Area is questioning therein continuation of services in West Bay. Because the San Francisco Board of Supervisors denied Caltrain's tax initiative proposal for the upcoming election in November. The Caltrain tax measure has to be approved by Santa Clara, San Mateo, and San Francisco Counties before therein measure becomes officially part of the elections. The Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties approved therein tax ballot measure to help Caltrain maintain services with funding needs.

The MTC Clipper START program will provide passengers with 50% discount rates with transit traveling fees in San Francisco Bay Area. The Clipper START pilot program is for 18 months and may extend if everything goes well because ridership is slowly picking up. The commuting passengers can use therein discount rates when using other specific public transit service agencies in the Bay Area.

The AC (Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District) agency in East Bay is not operating some transit services because of low ridership created by COVID-19 pandemic. The AC Transit agency is negatively impacted by therein COVID-19 health pandemic in San Francisco Bay Area like other transit agencies. The COVID-19 Shelter-In-Place orders throughout the state is uncertain at times and uncertain to transit agencies transporting essential passengers.
