The traffic congestion highways and roadways is getting terrible every year in San Francisco Bay Area, and VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) is planning to have a Silicon Valley Express Toll lanes network. Some of express lanes are partially completed on highway 880 and 237 in Santa Clara County, and express lanes will provide single car occupancy access to use with payment at toll locations.

The booming economy in San Francisco Bay Area is creating transportation problems, and BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) is getting crowded regarding elevated ridership with more passengers. The San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee said recently last month he is planning to have discussions about considering another BART transbay tunnel to help transport people. Some public services officials are supportive of this BART transportation project, and may create a better resolution assisting passengers without BART delays among other problems.

The new BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) services survey identifies passengers are dissatisfied with BART services performance, and showing 74% drop from 84% in 2012 and needs improvement. MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) and Bay Area Air Quality Management including other agencies are encouraging people to ride public transportation to save our environment, unfortunately, people will not ride in unsafe and unhealthy public transportation including BART.

The City of Redwood City council approved Farm Hill Boulevard traffic configuration project, and possibly help to avoid traffic roadway congestion and speeding car accidents. The council members made a decision based on several community meetings regarding this matter, and reduction of traffic lanes with bicycle lanes on each side of the road traveling opposite directions. The project will begin sometime in July this year and possibly complete within one year period, and police enforcement will be in place accordingly for community safety and accident prevention.

Transportation services for students at SFSU (San Francisco State University) has been improved by providing shuttle services especially for wheelchair accessibility, and making it quicker and efficient for students and faculty at the main campus. The shuttle services will help load passengers using wheelchairs quickly with the accessible lifting device, and taking all passengers to BART and transit bus stops within local geographical areas.

The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) is seeking new members to serve on advisory boards, providing informational materials for the commission to consider during any transportation developmental project. The MTC commission is recruiting 3 new members and they will serve on Policy Advisory Council regarding San Francisco Bay Area transportation projects. The role of advisory council is aligned with transportation funding development, transit improvement projects, transit services productivity and efficiency.

Healthy issues in San Francisco Bay Area for families and children is gaining support from American Lung Association, and BART board is stopping e-cigarette smoking at local stations and onboard trains. The BART board tentatively approved banning e-cigarette smoking and will officially approve it on Thursday, February 12, 2015. State legislatures are introducing provisional policies to treat and ban e-cigarettes the same way as regular cigarettes, making it healthy for our families and children throughout the golden state.

The City of Palo Alto has many developmental projects currently happening and residents are sharing concerns with traffic impact among other reasons to disapprove a project on Page Mill Road and El Camino Real. The council meeting last night was filled with residents regarding many projects within Palo Alto, and traffic was one of the major concerns due to environmental impact of unhealthy fuel emissions.

The Caltrain plans to electrify its trains from San Jose to San Francisco doesn't appear to sit well with local leaders in Palo Alto and Atherton, and possibly file a lawsuit because of the environmental report impacts not highly considered within the process. The Town of Atherton submitted a letter to Caltrain sharing its concerns regarding impacts of the EIR (Environmental Impact Report), and Palo Alto and Atherton officials have been communicating with Caltrain regarding this matter.

Many vehicles on freeways and roadways in San Francisco Bay Area have been trying to avoid more potholes on the road then before, many local cities will spent four to five times more money for pothole repairs and maintenance. Mike Furman, a local commuter said, he was driving down Trade Zone Boulevard in Milpitas and "it was like driving on the moon with many potholes." It's costing him more car repairs for his vehicle and making the road unsafe for drivers, and potholes can create more dangers on the road for people to travel.
