A U.S. District Judge ruled to fine Trinity Industries Inc. for fraudulent highway guardrail causing personal injuries and damages to drivers on national freeways. The final judgement was ordered on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 easing safety reasoning for drivers on California and other state national highways. Trinity Industries was ordered to pay $663 million for safety fraud penalties and guardrail damages. This was brought to legal attention by Joshua Harman an Engineer from Virginia who filed the federal lawsuit, ensuring safety for drivers in San Francisco Bay Area traveling on freeways.

The recent earthquake in Napa provided fractured roadway bridges and damaged road conditions within Napa County for traveling drivers. The state Caltrans have launch retrofitting repairs for damaged roadway bridges and resurfacing roads along Highway 29 for safety reasons. Part of the improvement project is widening the two-lane highway for safety measures and improving driving distance between St. Helena and Napa County. According to Caltrans data, it indicates 22,000 drivers commute along Highway 29 everyday and it can cause degrading conditions on the roadway asphalt.

The Bay Area Bike Share coalition project of extending bicycle stations within San Francisco Bay Area has emerged with local support. The project was expanded to eastern Bay Area cities after recent approval by MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) and pending to receive more study funding from MTC. They are expecting to have 7,000 bikes within East Bay during 2017, 4,500 in San Francisco, and 1,000 in San Jose. The bicycle coalition extension project will need more bicycle stations and would like to hear from people where they want to have accessible bicycle stations.

The City of Palo Alto have reached an agreement with Caltrain to build fences along train tracks for suicide prevention. An elevated number of Palo Alto teens have used Caltrain transporting cars as a source of committing suicide and raising questions within city neighborhoods. The city administrators have been meeting with Caltrain officials and finally reached an agreement of having fences along the train tracks with thermal infrared cameras.

The westbound lanes on I-580 in Marin County has been closed for repairs because of diesel fuel spill earlier leading Caltrans for emergency repairs this morning. The Caltrans roadway crews have been cleaning and repairing the impacted highway area since this morning around 9:25 AM and hoping to finish sometime this afternoon. The affected roadway area may have been caused by hot weather and degraded asphalt because of diesel fuel spill on the road sometime last month.

The Summer is here and AC Transit is offering changes for working class people needing transportation for families and children activities. These bus lines service changes will be effective Sunday, June 14, 2015 as we approach Summer time. Some of those improvement changes includes additional morning services for transbay bus lines C, E, G, J, OX and P, as well as evening services for bus lines 57 and 216. Bus lines 46 and 339 will operate every 30 minutes for Summer time only including services to Oakland Zoo, and Chabot Space and Science Center.

The eastern part of San Francisco Bay Area historical bay bridge steel will be in a museum for preservation in an artistic display for public view. The bridge steel will be recycled into art and history of the Bay Area throughout California supervised by Oakland Museum of California officials. The Oakland Museum has formed a committee to oversee and review artistic proposed projects for recycled steel. Artistic Project proposals have to be displayed for public review within the State of California celebrating a historical landmark.

The San Francisco Bay Area economy shows improvement as well as the need for late-night public transportation especially for working class people. During the month of December a one year pilot project was launched to provide late-night transportation for people. This effort is in place because of night time industries generating $4.2 billion in San Francisco and working class people have problems getting home.

The final approval for Bike Sharing Program is in place and pending to have more bicycle riders within eastern bay area. MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) approved the Bike Share Program efforts last week to have up to 700,000 bikes during 2017 in the East Bay. The program will not have any direct cost to tax payers and useful for economical reasoning and protecting our natural environment.

The recent open house meetings throughout San Francisco Bay Area plans for year 2040 is raising many questions about the effectiveness of reaching appropriate goals for the plan. The Plan 2040 is to reform transportation and housing within San Francisco Bay Area regions, and transportation protecting our natural environment and housing for all people. ABAG (Association of Bay Area Governments) and MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) spearheaded these open house meetings to hear from people directly.
