The San Francisco Bay Area transit agencies are getting $1.3 billion federal aid funding to help with therein COVID-19 health pandemic impact. The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) is a regional transportation development and/or investment agency that serves as the decision making body for federal funding. The MTC regional agency will work closely with Bay Area transit agencies regarding therein federal funding allocation. The transit agencies are sharing their appreciation for therein federal relief funding and depending on how much each will receive.

The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) agency is adjusting services effective Wednesday, April 8, 2020 because of low ridership and maintain social distancing for passengers. The BART ridership level is at 93% drop and providing transit services consistent with local, state, and federal public health agencies advisory. The transit agency will operate 26 trains throughout the BART system and running every 30 minutes during weekday services.

The VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) agency is changing bus routes for 22, 89, and 181 schedules in South Bay effective today on Monday, April 6, 2020. The VTA schedule services for therein buses will begin at 5 AM until 9 PM until further notice and encouraging passengers to use the rear-door entry process. To avoid COVID-19 transmitting contact and maintain social distancing onboard VTA transit buses and light railway services. The VTA transit agency announced that all in-person contact offices have been suspended until further notice.

The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) is trying to maximize available resources to accommodate passengers because of driving operators shortage. The SFMTA transit agency is expecting 40% shortage for drivers/operators during upcoming weeks because of the impact of COVID-19 pandemic. It's been tough for SFMTA to maintain muni services because of unavailable drivers/operators and consistent with new service changes. Some drivers/operators are trying to follow local, state, and federal public health guidance to stay home if not feeling well.

The SFO (San Francisco International Airport) is consolidating thereby international flights to one concourse until the end of May 2020 because of low air travelers. The SFO airport and other commercial airports in San Francisco Bay Area have been impacted by therein COVID-19 health crisis. Including the low level air travelers for other Bay Area airports, and SFO is requesting air traveling passengers to use Boarding Area G for all international flights. The SFO airport Boarding Area A will be closed until further notice to assist with consolidating services approach.

The ACE (Altamont Corridor Express) trains ridership has dropped more than 90% and reducing transit services effective today on Monday, April 6, 2020. The ACE trains #5 and #6 have been transporting less than 75 passengers with significant ridership decline, and therein service trains will be suspended until further notice. The ACE trains will operate thereby two round-trips on regular scheduling services and ACE will exchange and/or update unused monthly pass tickets for passengers.

The SMART (Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit) District implements more reduction services in North Bay effective today on Monday, April 6, 2020 because of low ridership. The SMART agency is adjusting therein weekday train services because of ridership is at 90% drop and will continue to monitor. The transit trains weekday schedules will be modified with new arrival and/or departure times in North Bay. The SMART agency modified schedules for daily train services will operate sixteen trips everyday at all stations until further notice.

The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) is making more services adjustment effective today on Monday, April 6, 2020 because of significant low ridership. The SFMTA muni bus services will try to maintain normal services and/or prioritizing to transport passengers for essential services only in West Bay. The SFMTA administration will continue to encourage passengers on entering muni buses from the rear-boarding process. To protect muni bus drivers/operators from COVID-19 and recommends distancing for passengers onboard the muni bus.

The SamTrans Board of Directors have authorized a 1/8 sales tax measure for the upcoming November 2020 elections in San Francisco Bay Area for Caltrain. The proposal tax measure has to be approved first by San Francisco and Santa Clara counties before it goes to next steps for voters approval. The tax measure will be voted within San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties because of therein Caltrain service areas. The tax measure is aligned with state legislation SB797 (Senate Bill 797) allowing Caltrain to place therein measure on the ballot.

The SFMTA muni services with 47 Van Ness in The City will be discontinued effective Saturday, April 4, 2020 until further notice. The muni services adjustment with 49 Van Ness for weekends only will be extended as alternate transporting services. The SFMTA administration is encouraging passengers to enter the bus using backdoor boarding process to avoid COVID-19 transmitting contact. The SFMTA staffing will continue to monitor therein COVID-19 situation and prioritizing services for essential needs.
