The COVID-19 pandemic and Shelter In Place order is continually creating low ridership with transit services in San Francisco Bay Area. The Caltrain transit services will be reduced again for weekday services effective Monday, March 30, 2020 in West Bay. The weekday services will operate with a modified schedule along with only 42 trains and not 92 trains as usual. The Caltrain low ridership is impacted like other transit agencies in the Bay Area and ticket sales deduced by approximately 86%.

Two transit agencies in San Francisco Bay Area reported two different associated drivers were tested positive with COVID-19 in Bay Area regional service areas. The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) and VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) agencies reported drivers/operators with positive COVID-19 testing results. The SFMTA agency reported one of their muni drivers tested positive in West Bay, and VTA reported one of their railway trainee operator tested positive in South Bay.

The transit agencies in San Francisco Bay Area are preventing therein coronavirus (COVID-19) by implementing social distancing in West Bay. The SamTrans transit agency is joining other Bay Area agencies by launching the rear-door boarding process to prevent therein COVID-19 transmitting contact. To protect passengers and/or bus operators by distancing themselves during boarding time for commuters. It's aligned with CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and Prevention federal agency to stop the spread of COVID-19 by social distancing.

The San Francisco Bay Area transit agencies are collaborating for funding support because of therein coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency crisis. Because the COVID-19 virus and Shelter In Place legal order has created low ridership for transit agencies in the Bay Area. That means operating revenues are limited for local transit agencies and reduction of services for transit passengers. The transit agencies in the Bay Area are highly requesting recovery funding from state and federal stimulus financial package.

The GGBHTD (Golden Gate Bridge Highway & Transportation District) agency has been operating on reduction services because of low ridership in North Bay. The GGBHTD agency adjusted their service schedules to fight therein coronavirus (COVID-19) disease and protecting commuting passengers. The services adjustment applies to both transit and ferry services including some services cancellation when necessary. The GGBHTD agency will continue to clean their fleet vehicles and ferry vessels aligned with COVID-19 prevention elements.

The WETA (Water Emergency Transportation Authority) agency has been providing reduction ferry services in the Bay Area to combat coronavirus (COVID-19). The WETA transit agency is another one joining therein low ridership in San Francisco Bay Area, because of therein COVID-19 public health crisis. The WETA agency is temporarily suspending some daily ferry services and cancelling all ferry services during weekends. The ferry services suspension in the Bay Area will be in effect until Tuesday, April 7, 2020 and/or until further notice.

The AC (Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District) agency is helping transport parents and children in East Bay for free lunch. The AC transit agency serves various school routes in East Bay and transporting some students for free lunch programs. During the "Shelter In Place" statewide order can make things harder for parents and children, and offering free lunch at some local schools will help. Including public transportation to help therein parents and students in East Bay, to get their free lunch for 18 years of age children and younger.

The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) is launching a visual prevention campaign to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in West Bay. The SFMTA agency is collaborating with SFDPH (San Francisco Department of Public Health) and CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and Prevention is getting therein visual message out to people. The SFMTA transit agency is posting therein visual signs on inside and outside of buses, railway trains, muni digital signs, etc.

The express lane fees within San Francisco Bay Area in East Bay and South Bay will be suspended through Tuesday, April 7, 2020 until further notice. The regional transportation agencies in collaboration with MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) has announced therein suspension to help drivers. The regional collaborative agencies will monitor local traffic impact during the COVID-19 health emergency situation for next steps. The express lanes will be open to all drives during these hard times to help families and children.

The Caltrans and BATA (Bay Area Toll Authority) agencies have suspended cash toll collection for highway bridges within the Bay Area. Including suspension for FasTrak devices collections until further notice during the COVID-19 health emergency situation. The Bay Ara bridge tolls collection booths for cash payments will be without staffing and drivers can drive through without problems. The bridge toll cameras will be operating to capture vehicle plates as usual and Caltrans with BATA will monitor Bay Area bridge operations.
