The Stanford University students arrested on January 19, 2015 during their protesting blockage on San Mateo Bridge will have to take traffic classes as ordered by the courts. The San Mateo County District Attorney's office worked out a plea bargain deal with 68 arrested students on taking traffic classes on learning how to protest without breaking the laws. Including fine payment, community service hours and misdemeanor records will be cleared after completion of the classroom hours training.

The latest studies indicate State of California roadway bridges are outdated and needs retrofitting repairs including San Francisco Bay Area regional transporting areas. We posted previously about the reporting studies results as well as future bay area bridge closures for repairs, and that time is here and now closing San Mateo Bridge over this weekend. Caltrans is expecting to close all eastbound and westbound lanes by 10 PM on Friday, and start working on retrofitting repairs and resurfacing the bridge deck for commuters.

The latest research studies identify Richmond drivers as worst commute drivers within San Francisco Bay Area aligned with 82 bay area commuting locations. Drivers from Richmond were ranked #12 as worst commuter drivers along accessible roadways and freeways on a daily basis. The alignment with car pooling for accessible freeways for drivers need to be reviewed for consideration, because driving along I-80 and I-580 highways find it as hardship and discouraging for carpooling.

The bus-only lanes on El Camino Real roadway within Santa Clara County, California continues as proposed including impacts during developmental process. The City of Mountain View recently approved a VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) bus-only lanes with flip-flopping votes by some council members. The VTA bus-only lanes project was rejected by City of Palo Alto and other local cities along El Camino Real due to traffic impacts. The project EIR (Environmental Impact Report) indicates finding among 900 cars traveling on El Camino Real roadway.

The rating level for San Francisco Bay Area highways and roadway bridges is lower than anticipated, and needs immediate structural repairs for commuter safety. The NBC Investigative Unit recently released elements of a Sufficiency Rating format of highway and roadway bridges in California. The data format indicates transportation bridges rating between 50-80 is structurally deficient and needs repairs for safety. Most of those bridges needing safety repairs are within San Francisco Bay Area and some of those repairs started recently in San Francisco with I-280.

A tow truck collided with VTA public transportation bus during this morning around 7:50 AM in San Jose injuring two toddlers with minor injuries reported by police. Two toddlers were riding in the tow truck that collided with a VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) bus and not in child car seats giving their ages 2 and 3 years old. They were transported to a local hospital for their treatment and both vehicles with identified damages. Traffic was delayed and congested around the accident vicinity along Cottle Road and Santa Teresa Boulevard in San Jose, California.

A petition online with 61,500 signatures to rename Waldo Tunnel to Robin Williams Tunnel is progressively moving forward at the state capitol legislative chambers. The State Assembly unanimously approved renaming legislation yesterday and going to State Senate for approval as part of a procedural process. The 63 year old comedian and actor Robin Williams committed suicide at his home in Tiburon on August 2014, and touched many people in San Francisco Bay Area as well as nationwide.
