The Google Waze app is open for carpooling as a pilot project within San Francisco Bay Area nine municipal counties. The company started the project with a select carpooling group in San Francisco and Mountain View - Waze was founded. The company mentioned using the Waze app to match drivers and commuters who work nearby everyday to share transportation. Its an effort to reduce traffic congestion on local highways and roadways as well as saving our natural environment.

The bad weather conditions today is impacting local airports arrival and departure flights throughout San Francisco Bay Area. The SFO (San Francisco International Airport) has cancelled dozens of flights, no flights cancelled at OAK (Oakland International Airport) and one flight cancelled at SJC (Mineta San Jose International Airport) during morning hours. Some cancellation flights are part of consolidation approach because of bad weather conditions in the Bay Area along with low passenger traffic.

The new pedestrians and bicycles pathway was opened Saturday during a ceremony at McLaren Park in San Francisco. The new Mansell Streetscape pathway is aligned with the city's Vision Zero policy to build safe and healthy communities. The project is converting two street lanes into a pedestrian and bicycle pathway, including traffic-calming measures and signs, crosswalks and flashing beacons. It's a partnership effort with several community groups, city agencies, San Francisco Public Works Department, and San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.

The SamTrans transit buses serving San Mateo County will receive $3.4 million funding grant to improve services for passengers. The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) announced therein funding for SamTrans transit agency, and it will be implemented for the TSP (Traffic Signal Priority) project. The reporting data showing SFO (San Francisco International Airport) served more than 53.1 million passengers during 2016 with 10% increase, OAK (Oakland International Airport) served more than 12 million passengers with 7.7% increase, and SJC (San Jose International Airport) served more than 10.8 million passengers with 10.2% increase. The SFO officials mentioned adding 3 United Airlines new international destinations with new international airlines.

The latest report indicates self-driving cars are navigating local streets and highways better as anticipated within San Francisco Bay Area. The California DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) is working closely with state legislators to define and apply appropriate laws regarding self-driving vehicles. The reporting data reflects safety related incidents by 11 companies testing self-driving cars on local roadway streets and highways. The Google Waymo self-driving car project has been testing more than other companies, and Waymo fleet cars have been driven more than 635,000 miles.

The protesters blocked arrival walkway entrances and escalators for passengers during their airport arrivals. The Uber company is on the business hot seat again in San Francisco Bay Area because of providing passengers rides at JFK International Airport, in New York during taxi strikes and boycott protesters at the airport over the weekend. The Lyft car-sharing rival company also provided information to people that Lyft will donate $1 million to ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union). The Lyft donation effort is to help ACLU with any legal issues of concerns regarding immigration matters aligned with President Donald Trump's latest Executive Order regarding immigrant populations.
