The California Governor Jerry Brown unveiled a funding package at the State Capitol for the state transportation projects including San Francisco Bay Area. The state transportation proposal agreement by the governor and state legislators will raise $5.2 billion, for transportation improvement projects statewide and San Francisco Bay Area. The funding proposal package will need approval by state legislators as scheduled for April 6, 2017 as the deadline.

An employee working for Tesla Motors factory in Fremont, California is suing the company for harassment and racial discrimination at the workplace. The Tesla employee DeWitt Lambert, 44 year old African-American is suing the company because of other employees using racial slurs and inappropriate behaviors on him. The allegations by co-workers happened along the assembly line and employee victim identified he has the video for evidence. He shared the complain with HR (Human Resources) department and investigated the situation, and he said his concerns were not properly resolved.

The airport is increasing more passengers and expecting more airlines during this year for tourists and visitors. The Sonoma County Airport (STS) celebrates its 10th anniversary milestone of airline services with Alaska Airlines. The local STS airport is only with a 15,000 square foot terminal with Alaska Airlines, including United Airlines and Sun Country Airlines to begin services in June and August 2017. The United Airlines announced 3 nonstop daily flights to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) starting June 8, 2017.

The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) transportation projects are starting to lineup for the Bay Area because state bridge toll increase is heading for the ballot. That means people have to vote for approval or disapproval of regional bridge tolls increase during upcoming elections. Therein ballot measure is to raise money for Bay Area transportation improvement projects, it's similar to the $1 toll increase in 1988 and 2004. The new BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) extension project in Warm Springs within Southern Fremont station was opened on Saturday for public services.

The Uber Technologies Inc. self-driving cars endeavor is suspended in Arizona and possibly returning to San Francisco because they're legally offered the California permits. The Uber company has been going through many challenges as well as testing autonomous self-driving cars. The company self-driving operation is suspended because of a car accident in Tempe, Arizona, including self-driving car operation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The vehicular traffic congestion in San Francisco Bay Area continues and transit agencies are requesting state data for Uber and Lyft car-sharing companies. A local San Francisco legislature is drafting a legislation to request data from CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission) for traffic congestion resolutions. The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) sent a letter to state regulators in December 2016 identifying 45,000 Uber and Lyft vehicles are driving in San Francisco.

The local transit officials are considering on extending carpool lanes operational hours to help ease traffic congestion in the Bay Area. The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) Deputy Director of Operations, Andrew Fremier, presented Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District board with a proposal to extend hours for carpool lanes. The proposal is to extend carpool lanes operational hours in Marin County and Golden Gate Bridge based on the driver survey outcome.

The California HSR (High Speed Rail) has been going through many funding challenges within San Francisco Bay Area. The latest is a Sacramento County Superior Court judge ruling against a legal challenge, by rejecting a temporary restraining order regarding HSR funding bonds. The HSR case situation is aligned with Bay Area Caltrain electrification funding leading to its federal funding delays. The federal $647 million allocation for Caltrain's project is questionable by congressional members because it appears to be utilized for California HSR project.

The Stanford University Women's Basketball team is on the road for March Madness tournament and having transportation problems. The Stanford team made it to the Sweet-16 NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Tournament by defeating Kansas State 21 points and advanced to next tournament level. The Stanford team bus broke down few times on the way to the games, and finally made it to the game and team members have to stay focused. The Stanford team have to spent an extra night after the game because their chartering airplane was not on time.

The WETA (Water Emergency Transportation Authority) administration is opening new services with new ferries during first part of next month in April 2017. The WETA fleet will have 13 ferry vessels starting next month in addition to the new vessel called Hydrus and another new vessel in July called Cetus. These commuting vessels will certainly help with vehicular traffic congestion on San Francisco Bay Area highways and roadways. The ferry vessels will transport passengers from across the bay to San Francisco during daily round trips.
