The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) is reducing speed limits on major streets along west side of the city. The speed limit will be reduced 5 miles less from 35 to 30 mph on sections of Fulton Street and Sunset Boulevard, and 30 to 25 mph street locations in South of Market. Including streets along Haight Ashbury, Parkmerced, Dogpatch and Westbound Highlands neighborhood streets, and it becomes part of Vision Zero project planning. The improvement plan is all part of pedestrian and bicyclist safety within the city communities.

The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) transportation system police force in San Francisco Bay Area is turning on technology to fight crime. The BART police officers is making its crime data public to help fight crime issues in the Bay Area because of increasing crime rates. The robberies at BART stations and/or trains have increased to 45% from last year statistical data according to the agency reports. The BART station at Oakland Coliseum reports the highest crime with 13 robberies and Bay Fair station with 9 robberies.

A member of San Francisco Board of Supervisors want to charge Uber and/or Lyft ride-sharing companies a fee when picking up passengers. The SFO (San Francisco International Airport) administration makes Uber and Lyft pay $3.80 for each passenger ride at the airport. Therein costing amount is passed on to passengers to pay and SFO generates approximately $2 million a month as additional airport revenues. The approach is having control on local traffic congestion issues for The City with some resolutions, and charging ride-sharing companies will help resolve local traffic issues.

The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced releasing funds to Caltrain for safety reasoning. The Caltrain transit will receive $21.68 million federal money for the implementation process of Positive Train Control (PTC) safety systems. The trains will be equipped with PTC safety control systems and aiming to complete the implementation process by December 31, 2018. The FRA and FTA federal grant funding money will be used to improve safety for passengers by installing PTC safety control systems on trains.

Congratulations, to MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) for winning the 2017 Transportation Planning Excellence Award. The award is from Federal Highway Administration for the "Plan Bay Area and One Bay Area Grant Program" for excellence transportation planning. The Plan Bay Area is a long-range transportation and land use project throughout nine counties within San Francisco Bay Area. The One Bay Area Grant Program provides funding sources for the transportation planning to make it happen in regional areas.

The AC Transit (Alameda Contra Costa Transit District) is planning to increase passenger fares next month effective July 1, 2017. The AC Transit board approved therein increase to keep-up with administrative expenditures and remain fiscally sustainable. The new state fiscal year begins in July 1, 2017 and AC Transit joins fare increases for passengers along with other transit agencies in San Francisco Bay Area. Other Bay Area transit agencies are considering to increase parking fees as well for passengers and encouraging input from the public.

The Southwest Airlines is testing a process for passengers as they exit the airplane thereafter landing at airports in San Francisco Bay Area. The Southwest Airlines is launching therein testing process for two weeks period at SJC (Mineta San Jose International Airport) and SMF (Sacramento International Airport). The deplaning procedural project will use dual-doors for passengers to exit the airplane upon airport arrivals.

The JetBlue flight 915 from New York going to SFO (San Francisco International Airport) in the Bay Area was redirected to Michigan. The flight diverted landing was because of a fire on the plane from a lithium laptop battery in a backpack that forced the airplane to land at GRR (Gerald Ford International Airport) in Michigan. The flight emergency landing was successful without reported injuries and the airplane was not damaged. The 158 passengers on the airplane were fine and without reported injuries and flight attendants were very helpful throughout the situation.

The City of San Francisco Controller's Office released an interesting report regarding the muni vehicle maintenance record keeping and data collection. The Controller's Office released therein report to review SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) muni records of managing fleet vehicles within the city. Including overhead line trucks, inspector vehicles, and transports for fleet vehicles and reports finding lacks of control. The report identifies muni management lacking adequate controls and spending more to fix vehicles at reasonable shops.

The City of Sausalito and Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District (GGBHTD) is having conflicts with the development size of the ferry project. The GGBHTD board approved to change the size of the Sausalito ferry project because it was not part of the initial proposal plan. The Ferry Terminal project is planning to rebuild and renew the terminals in Sausalito because of its aging stage for passengers safety.
