The SamTrans transit agency releases therein Express Bus Study draft report for review and open for public input with comments. The study outlines SamTrans plan for express bus services to improve transporting options and easing traffic congestion in San Mateo County. It recommends various express services routes with mobility options and developing cost effective services along Highway-101. The public can share their views about therein project study elements for consideration and incorporation for the improvement project - public comment last day is Friday, November 16, 2018.

The Caltrain transit agency continues to close weekend services to San Francisco for second month and passengers have to stop at Bayshore Station. Because repair crews will work on four train tunnels in San Francisco to prepare for therein Caltrain electrification project. The free ride transit buses will be available for passengers to commute until late part of Spring 2019. It will connect passengers traveling between Bayshore and San Francisco train station, and electrification project is major part of Caltrain electric trains.

The Surf Air commuting airline has returned to local San Carlos Airport within San Mateo County in San Francisco Bay Area. The Surf Air has been going through challenges from local regional neighborhoods in the Bay Area because of loud airline flight noise. The Surf Air flights were rerouted to Oakland International Airport during therein challenging flight noise complaints. The airline flights across the Bay Area was creating some problems for Silicon Valley airline memberships.

The VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) transit agency may access and capture Measure-B funds approved by voters in 2016. The state Court of Appeals recently issued a decision in favor of VTA transit agency with a threshold approach for Measure-B funding. The VTA legal battle with a local resident provides therein initiative funds to be in an escrow account until the final settlement ruling. That means VTA can access Measure-B funding for local transportation improvement projects if therein local resident doesn't file for an appeal.

The election season is here with many transportation initiatives on the ballot for voters to decide on local and state election measures. The ballot Proposition-6/Prop. 6 initiative is critical for voters to decide because it's major funding for many transportation projects statewide. The Prop. 6 is to repeal gas tax increases approved by state legislatures to provide funding for transportation projects in San Francisco Bay Area and statewide.

The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) released a report identifying worst traffic congested areas in San Francisco Bay Area. The MTC new data identifies traffic delays from last year in 2017 thereafter four years of worsening traffic during commuting hours. The data report shows while the regional traffic congestion delays did not increase from last year. It also shows the average daily commuter spends more than 80% increase within regional traffic congestion areas.

The new BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) trains are crossing Bay Area regional areas for commuters across the bay - East Bay to West Bay. It's scheduled to transport commuters throughout therein regular daily routes including North Bay to South Bay regional areas. The new BART trains are shiny with flashy new looks inside and outside with new seating including new computerized announcements. The CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission) approved and certified 35 car trains to transport passengers.

The SamTrans transit agency is rolling out an electric bus sample for passengers designed by a local company in San Francisco Bay Area during a Press Conference. The transit agency ordered 10 new electric buses to replace old diesel buses within the fleet serving San Mateo County. The new electric buses are designed and manufactured by Proterra Inc. in Burlingame within West Bay Area. The SamTrans agency is planning to roll out therein electric transit buses next year for passengers.

The VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) transit policy is being modeled to fight human trafficking on transit throughout the Bay Area and statewide. The California state governor signed into law AB2034 (Assembly Bill 2034) making it mandatory for all transit agencies to have human trafficking training. The new training law is mandatory for all statewide transit agencies to train employees and transit operators - effective January 2019.

The express lanes for Highway 237 (SR/State Route 237) is happening along First Street and Mathilda Avenue in San Francisco Bay Area aligned with state legislation. This extension improvement project in South Bay will hopefully open for drivers during Summer 2019 with new operating rules for drivers. The express lanes operating hours will possibly consistent with other regional operating hours from 5 AM to 8 PM and pending state approval. The operating rules will be aligned with local and state regulations to help CHP (California Highway Patrol) for enforcement.
