The BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) services agency in San Francisco Bay Area is having an earthquake safety drill for passengers and employees protection. The BART safety drill is to ensure all emergency systems are working appropriately during an earthquake. Because earthquakes do happen within San Francisco Bay Area, and protecting BART passengers and employees becomes more essential. The transit agency safety emergency drill will happen on Thursday, October 20, 2022 and the BART earthquake alert system will operate during therein daily routes.

The SCT (Sonoma County Transit) services agency in North Bay is operating with weekly daily schedules including free rides for passengers routing services. The local routing services are operating with schedules from Mondays to Saturdays, and free rides for passengers in some cities at North Bay without problems. The SCT agency is offering free rides to ALL passengers on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 during Election Day. The transit agency effort is making it easier for passengers to vote on Election Day in the Bay Area.

The WETA (Water Emergency Transportation Authority) ferry services agency in West Bay is upgrading their alert networking system for passengers. The WETA is launching their new technology alert system to inform passengers with services and tracking ferries with real-time information. Including real-time ferry service arrivals and/or departures from local Bay Area stations, and passengers can access therein ferry service update alerts. The WETA ferry services new technology system is available on Google Maps, Moovit, Transit App, San Francisco Bay Ferry App, and 511.

The AC Transit (Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District) services agency in East Bay is removing face mask requirements on transit buses. The AC Transit agency board approved therein face masking legislative action earlier this month on Sunday, October 2, 2022. The transit agency will continue to provide hand sanitizers and face masks onboard the buses for passengers to use when necessary. The AC Transit agency is giving passengers an option to wear face mask and not required onboard transit buses.

The VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) services agency in South Bay is partnering with community agencies for transit services improvement project. The VTA transit agency is partnering with SJSU (San Jose State University), City of San Jose, and MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission). The partnership agencies are carrying on therein BayPass pilot project to help college students in the Bay Area. The VTA partnership with SJSU will provide students BayPass for free transit rides within the Bay Area.

The Caltrans (California Department of Transportation) agency is improving pedestrians and bicyclists with safety statewide projects. Including safety projects within District 4 covering San Francisco Bay Area regional pedestrians and/or bicyclists local projects. The Caltrans statewide improvement projects will improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists in regional communities. The Caltrans agency will invest $1.05 billion to increase pedestrians and/or bicyclists safety with therein projects in the Bay Area and statewide.

The SolTrans (Solano County Transit) service agency in North Bay celebrates their first zero-emission transit bus during this week. The SolTrans agency was able to partner with STA (Solano Transportation Authority) and Momentum Dynamics during therein celebration event. The SolTrans first zero-emission bus includes a charging system installed by Momentum Dynamics. The new electronic charging system for SolTrans BYD (Build Your Dreams) zero-emission bus is at SolTrans Curtola Park and Ride location in Vallejo.

The SamTrans (San Mateo County Transit District) service agency in West Bay shared their 2022 Art Contest winners during an award ceremony. Needless to say, the awards ceremony feeds right into the Transit Month of September 2022, and celebrating transit services within the Bay Area by ALL transit companies - THANK YOU!

The WestCAT (Western Contra Costa Transit Authority) services agency in East Bay is offering an opportunity for proposals from consulting companies. The WestCAT agency provides transit services in Contra Costa County within western neighborhood communities, and performing services under WCCTA (Western Contra Costa Transit Authority). The transit agency RFP (Request For Proposals) process will give an chance for DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) companies. The WestCAT agency is looking for companies with a system-wide analysis and development of the Zero-Emission Rollout Plan.

The ACE (Altamont Corridor Express) train services agency in South Bay will continue transit services because of a negotiable labor agreement. The ACE train is happy to continue therein transit services for loyal and/or new passengers traveling in the Bay Area. The tentative labor agreement by freight carrier operators and employees union avoided therein suspension of transit services by ACE train. The labor agreement is aligned with RLA (Railway Labor Act) for negotiable elements in place during the procedural process.
