The SamTrans holiday services will operate transit with modified Sunday schedules, and office locations will be closed during the holidays on Christmas Day and New Years Day. The transit agency CEO/General Manager Jim Hartnett shared he is leaving his position during April 2021, and joined SamTrans six years ago with a great job!

The Tri Delta Transit services agency in East Bay is offering an invitation for bids regarding a project in San Francisco Bay Area. The transit agency project in East Bay is within ECCTA (Eastern Contra Costa Transit Authority) neighborhood services jurisdiction in Contra Costa County. The proposed project is for the construction of a park and ride parking lot in the City of Oakley, California. The biding process will include a pre-bidding conference on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 with the bidding proposals project guidelines and onsite tour.

The ACE (Altamont Corridor Express) transit services in South Bay continues to operate with modified schedules in San Francisco Bay Area. The ACE trains 05 and 07 going westbound for daily services are suspended as well as westbound services for Saturdays, and trains 01 and 03 are operating with modified daily schedules going westbound. The ACE trains 06 and 10 going eastbound for daily services are suspended as well as eastbound services for Saturdays, and trains 04 and 08 are operating with modified daily schedules going eastbound.

The Caltrans (California Department of Transportation) state agency is offering temporary permits for local businesses in San Francisco Bay Area and statewide to operate. The Caltrans agency effort is to provide an opportunity for businesses to expand customer services for retailers, restaurants, etc. The local business temporary permits approach is aligned with the state highway ROW (Right-Of-Way) elements through local cities and counties. The Caltrans agency is trying to help local business communities expand customer services because of the COVID-19 impact.

The SMART (Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit) train agency in North Bay is investing with an in-house training program in San Francisco Bay Area. The transit agency will provide local people with skills training who are interested in Signal Technician and/or Vehicle Maintenance Technician. The SMART agency will work closely with local colleges to implement such an in-house training program for students. The in-house training program discussions for therein identified training technician positions started during 2016, and the SMART Board of Directors finally agreed for the training program.

The WETA (Water Emergency Transportation Authority) ferry services agency in West Bay is not offering services during holidays. The WETA agency will operate during Thursday, Christmas Eve and Thursday, New Years Eve with current schedules, and will observe Friday, Christmas Holiday and Friday, New Years Holiday without ferry services. The ferry services are operating on modified current schedules, and all weekend service schedules are suspended until further notice.

The County Connection transit services agency in East Bay is developing a 2021 Service Plan for next year in San Francisco Bay Area. Including transit service reductions within local service areas with limited operational funding caused by therein COVID-19 pandemic. The first County Connections webinar overview meeting on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 provided communities with the agency funding impact aligned with potential service reductions. The transit agency provided three service proposals aligned with available annual funding reductions and future funding projections.

The SJC (San Jose International Airport) commercial airport in South Bay is now offering onsite COVID-19 testing by drive-thru appointments for passengers. The SJC Airport offers thereby opportunity for air traveling passengers using Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines going to Hawaii. The airport COVID-19 drive-thru testing is open everyday onsite and located at the Taxi staging area. The Carbon Health technology healthcare provider administers onsite testing for Alaska Airlines, and WorkSite Labs provide testing for Hawaiian Airlines air traveling passengers.

The MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) agency releases therein Plan Bay Area 2050 Final Blueprint in San Francisco Bay Area. The MTC agency partners with ABAG (Association of Bay Area Governments) to share therein final results of the Plan Bay Area 2050. The blueprint displays a long-term goal to guide regional plans for transportation, housing, economy, and environment developments in the Bay Area. It was created based on analyzed strategies and planning with investment aligned with public policies consistent with the blueprint draft.
