The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) is going beyond sparing the air days advocacy to save our natural environment. The BAAQMD advocacy team has approved a new initiative for healthy air quality and climate changes for improvement, and reducing greenhouse gasses and emissions in our natural environment for protection. The "Spare The Air - Cool The Climate" new initiative is envisioning to have energy-efficient buildings, transportation network of electric cars, more usage of bicycles and walking, along with less waste and more recycling.

The people can ride their bicycles in San Francisco Bay Area and walk across the Bay Bridge using the opening pathway. The Bay Bridge pathway opening ceremony provided a ribbon cutting and sharing remarks from local and state leaders along with elected officials. The bicyclists and pedestrians Bay Bridge pathway is now open 7 days a week and creating a great view for people from Yerba Buena Island. People can exercise outdoors riding their bikes and/or walking across the Bay Bridge and enjoy natural air to breath and stay healthy.

The 2017 Federal Budget for consideration includes $100 million for Caltrain electrification project and San Francisco Bay Area infrastructure investment. The $73 million is already approved and earmarked within Federal Core Capacity funding and congress will review tentative budget for final approval. The FTA (Federal Transit Administration) will make the final funding appropriation and Caltrain officials believe it's a good sign. The FTA will issue an FFGA (Full Funding Grant Agreement) when all budgetary matters are approved for allocation with identified agencies.

The latest passenger incident on United Airlines have captured the attention of U.S. Congressional representatives. The congressional hearing members expressed their frustration with how passengers are treated by airlines during air traveling. The panel hearing yesterday on Tuesday was trying to improve customer services for airline passengers and taking appropriate actions when negative situations happen. The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing members warned airlines about improving customer services otherwise congress will take necessary actions.

The Uber ride-sharing company has been recently going through many challenges in San Francisco Bay Area and statewide legislative regulations. The City of San Francisco served Uber with a subpoena demanding them to provide all Uber drivers contact information for business matters. Because the city Treasurer's Office mentioned for Uber's independent contracting drivers to pay for their local operating business licenses. The Treasurer's Office sent letters to 57,000 Uber and Lyft drivers, and approximately 20,000 drivers have registered with the City of San Francisco.

The new statistical information released by BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) administration shows robberies are increasing from last year. The agency data information shows 45% increase of robberies at BART stations and onboard trains with Oakland Coliseum Station having the most negative behaviors. The BART released data is along with the arrest of suspects involved in the robberies two weeks ago at Oakland Coliseum Station. Therein identified robbery incident caused BART police and security to elevate patrolling activities for passengers safety.

The Qatar Airlines announced their plans to start serving SFO (San Francisco International Airport) possibly starting next year. The Bay Area airports have been reeling in airlines with more air traveling flights and SFO gets the latest airline within the air transportation competition. The Qatar Airlines displayed their business traveling environment within flights and catching interesting business air traveling viewers. The SFO services will be available for daily flights possibly during the second quarter next year in 2018.

The San Francisco Bay Area "Bike To Work Day" is coming next week on Thursday, May 11, 2017 and encouraging people to register. The Bike To Work Day is part of the national bike month and energy stations will be along the biking routes for bicyclists. Including free refreshments and energy drinks with nutritional elements for bicyclists at various energy stations. The event is sponsored by MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) and Kaiser Permanent with many local agencies including media sponorship by NBC-KNTV and Telemundo-48.

The new muni light railway trains are ready for operation on Monday thereafter for testing for passengers safety reasoning. The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) new railway trains will complete testing as scheduled on Sunday. These new trains are part of 24 total new railway trains arriving within sometime towards the end of 2018. The effort is to increase muni's local light railway system fleet for passengers at least 50%, and modernize the muni trains internal environment for safety.

The United Airlines announced it will raise to $10,000 for payments to customers giving up their seats starting Friday. The effort is to provide passengers optional ways to resolve and reduce overbooking flights, and not eliminating the sales of more tickets for passengers. This approach is because of the recent passenger problems with United Airlines during a flight, and how the passenger was allegedly removed from therein flight. The United Airlines officials mentioned reducing particular flights with poor tracking records of finding volunteer passengers giving up their seats.
