The Phase-I of therein BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) Silicon Valley Extension project is stretching towards the finish line by June 2018. The VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) transit agency administers the extension project functional activities in partnership with BART. The shuttle buses transporting Apple and Google tech employees to South Bay were attacked during this week along Highway 280 during commuting hours. The shuttle buses windows were smashed and CHP (California Highway Patrol) is investigating therein targeted situational matter. The CHP officers shared their concerns and mentioned no injuries were reported about the shuttle buses attack. The shuttle buses were vandalized during protesting demonstrations in San Francisco and created problems with local traffic in 2013.

The City of Berkeley is upgrading ways and means of transportation for the UC Berkeley campus pedestrian students and bicyclists. The intention of is to improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists to and from UC Berkeley campus for students. The U.S. Transportation Secretary, Elaine Chao shared information on pending regulations for self-driving cars within San Francisco Bay Area and nationwide. The USDOT (U.S. Department of Transportation) along with NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) will revisit and rewrite therein self-driving cars safety policies. The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) tunnel project at Sunset District in San Francisco is experiencing some delays. The SFMTA board awarded therein contractual agreement to NTK during April 2016 for the tunnel improvement project upgrades. It appears the project contractor completed some workload activities for therein tunnel project and SFMTA owes $16.2 million for payment. The SFMTA staffing is recommending to reopen the bidding process because of ongoing delays with the project and costing more to tax payers.

The City of Oakland is banning transporting coal at the Port of Oakland in 2016 because of local health and environmental concerns. The lawsuit was filed by a local developer regarding a proposed new $250 million shipping terminal project in Oakland for coal transporting activities. The East Bay local developer is calling therein City of Oakland regulation unconstitutional and filed a lawsuit. The developer representatives are sharing therein coal transporting activities will be safe and providing thousands of local jobs.

The Richmond-San Rafael Bridge development for bicycle lanes on the westbound bridge direction is questionable for it's usage and feasibility. Some MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) officials are sharing concerns about therein additional lane can be used for vehicular traffic relief. Part of therein bridge development discussion is having a 10 foot wide north side lane of the upper bridge deck for vehicular traffic. The bicyclists and pedestrians can use therein space with a movable median barrier to separate vehicular traffic during that time of usage.

The GGNRA (Golden Gate National Recreation Area) announced visitors will need to have parking reservations when visiting Muir Woods National Monument effective today on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. The national monument in Marin County, California is one of the most visited location by local Bay Area residents and touring groups. The required parking reservation applies for personal cars and/or shuttling vehicles in which is managed by Ace Parking Management Inc. for a smooth operation.

The LimeBike company in San Mateo is sharing concerns with JUMP Mobility e-bikes contractual permit of operation in San Francisco. The JUMP Mobility operational permit was approved and issued by SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) for e-bikes local usage in the city. An arbitration agreement between SFMTA and operating agency for JUMP Mobility provides an opportunity for e-bikes to expand locally. The LimeBike CEO (Chief Executive Officer) is requesting SFMTA to reopen the process for bicycle operational permits and public hearing.

The bicyclists within San Francisco Bay Area may have a selection of e-bikes transporting them from place-to-place in the Bay Area. The Ford GoBike is planning to launch 250 e-bikes during April 2018 as part of the pilot project, and e-bikes are produced locally by GenZe in Fremont. The e-bikes are pedal assisted with a 345 watt-hourly lithium battery and could have a speed range of up to 18 miles per hour. It also shows the e-bike speed as well as battery charging levels and it will be at docking stations within the San Francisco.
