The bus-only lanes on El Camino Real roadway within Santa Clara County, California continues as proposed including impacts during developmental process. The City of Mountain View recently approved a VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) bus-only lanes with flip-flopping votes by some council members. The VTA bus-only lanes project was rejected by City of Palo Alto and other local cities along El Camino Real due to traffic impacts. The project EIR (Environmental Impact Report) indicates finding among 900 cars traveling on El Camino Real roadway.

The rating level for San Francisco Bay Area highways and roadway bridges is lower than anticipated, and needs immediate structural repairs for commuter safety. The NBC Investigative Unit recently released elements of a Sufficiency Rating format of highway and roadway bridges in California. The data format indicates transportation bridges rating between 50-80 is structurally deficient and needs repairs for safety. Most of those bridges needing safety repairs are within San Francisco Bay Area and some of those repairs started recently in San Francisco with I-280.

A tow truck collided with VTA public transportation bus during this morning around 7:50 AM in San Jose injuring two toddlers with minor injuries reported by police. Two toddlers were riding in the tow truck that collided with a VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) bus and not in child car seats giving their ages 2 and 3 years old. They were transported to a local hospital for their treatment and both vehicles with identified damages. Traffic was delayed and congested around the accident vicinity along Cottle Road and Santa Teresa Boulevard in San Jose, California.

A petition online with 61,500 signatures to rename Waldo Tunnel to Robin Williams Tunnel is progressively moving forward at the state capitol legislative chambers. The State Assembly unanimously approved renaming legislation yesterday and going to State Senate for approval as part of a procedural process. The 63 year old comedian and actor Robin Williams committed suicide at his home in Tiburon on August 2014, and touched many people in San Francisco Bay Area as well as nationwide.

The entrance roadway to Facebook Headquarters was closed yesterday due to a gas leak and creating traffic congestion along Willow Road around 12:30 PM. The leaking gas was reported near Willow Road and Ivy Drive involving a plastic service line pertaining to PG&E spokesperson J.F. Guidi. The eastbound Willow Road was closed and reopened around 2:35 PM avoiding any traffic congestion during commuting hours. Students of a high school nearby were asked to stay inside and clear outside areas including local business and residents.

The post review meeting at Caltrans Headquarters on Friday was provided with a presentation regarding ongoing construction development misconceptions of the San Francisco bay bridge. State Caltrans Chief Engineer Brian Maroney shared that the bay bridge bolts are in good shape and one bolt is shorter than anticipated. Members of Bay Area Toll Authority and operators shared their concerns about the safety and well being of travelers over the bay bridge everyday regarding malfunctioning bolts on the bridge.

The decision to have bus only lanes on El Camino Real within Santa Clara County is becoming a flip-flopping process due to local council members changing their mindset approach. The City of Mountain View council members approved their support for bus only lanes on El Camino Real roadway, because other council members changed their supportive approach. They hope bus only lanes will give people the opportunity to ride public transportation more often and leave their cars at home.

A passenger that was on Southwest Airlines flight from Oakland Airport to Los Angeles Orange County passed away the day after the airplane landed, and the wife of passenger Richard Ilczyscyn is suing the airlines. Because the wife feels airline personnel inappropriately handled her husband's medical situational condition during the flight. She filed the lawsuit with Alameda County Superior Court for unspecified damages including emergency damages during the flight.

San Francisco State University students are advocating for transportation passes on San Francisco Muni and BART transit because of costly traveling amounts for students. A student traveling from Fairfax to San Francisco State University cost him/her $6 one-way everyday not including local San Francisco Muni transportation. The perception of students is to have Muni traveling fees included in tuition fees as part of their agreement with administration after lengthy discussions.

Pedestrian safety initiatives in San Francisco Bay Area within local city jurisdictions have been modified, for local pedestrians and bicyclists safety improvement. A Town of Atherton, California have joined local safety efforts for protection of pedestrians and bicyclists, by approving funding for safety protections along El Camino Real roadway intersection with Almendral Avenue. Recently a pedestrian was killed with many other accidents along the intersecting roadway area and town council members are taking appropriate actions for improvement.
