BRIDGE BICYCLE & PEDESTRIANS PATHWAY INSTALLATION IN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

The Richmond-San Rafael bridge bicycles and pedestrians pathway project is scheduled to open during this fall season. Including the installation of therein movable concrete barrier to separate traveling cars from bicycles and pedestrians pathway. The Caltrans maintenance crew will operate a machine called "Zipper Truck" to align therein movable concrete barrier with the flow of traffic. The bridge bicycles and pedestrians pathway is a collaborative project of Caltrans, BATA (Bay Area Toll Authority), CCTA (Contra Costa Transportation Authority), and TAM (Transportation Authority of Marin). The Caltrans will monitor therein pathway for safety reasoning and have adjustments accordingly, when necessary for bridge bicyclists and pedestrians safety.
