SILICON VALLEY BART EXTENSION STATUS IN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

The Silicon Valley BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) extension project under Phase-II development is considering which tunneling design is suitable for passenger safety. The San Francisco Bay Area transit leaders are looking at options for therein BART tunnel, either single-bore and/or double-bore tunnels for BART trains. The VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) and BART officials formed a professional team called the "Peer Review Panel" to provide insight and analytical review of the project tunnels. The VTA and BART staffing provided therein panel with information regarding the single-bore and double-bore underground tunnels. The panel prefers therein double-bore tunnels and will make a final decision during January 2018 for the South Bay extension project Phase-II development.
