The Santa Cruz METRO (Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District) services agency in South Bay is rolling out their new initiative for transit services improvement. The Santa Cruz METRO agency is launching a three years term for thereby new pathway to improve transit services. The new transformational transit services plan is called "Wave Service" and responding to their community transportation needs. The Santa Cruz METRO new services initiative will be implemented in two phases effective December 2023 with thereby first phase. The Wave Service second phase will happen during 2024 to meet thereby transit needs of local communities in Santa Cruz County. The transit agency new service transformation will increase services frequency for traveling passengers, as well as direct routing services without transfers within different buses.
