The Overnight Transportation System in San Francisco

San Francisco, the busiest city of the Northern California runs almost 24 hrs of the day along with the Bay Area. The Robust nighttime economy of the city contributes around $4 billion annually and gives employment to more than 50,000 people. Several residents use to work at night and therefore they get late to reach home, but even then they start working at the earliest.

But the hard-luck of residents, as the city’s transportation system, don’t reflect the same routine that of the residents. The system operates like people only work at the day time and sleep in the night but NO, the city also works at night. Many services including BART, Muni Subway, and Caltrain shut down at night. Though our Muni AC Transit, Golden Gate Transit and SamTrans have night-long services but utilized by the least people.

The poor late night transportation system leaves a number of difficulties for the residents. Workers are not happy as they have to wait for an hour to reach their final destination.

The transportation network companies have improved the services. Now, people can really dream of catching a cab at 2 a.m. BART and AC Transit collaborated to come up with an additional Transbay, that connects Mission to Oakland and East Bay points.

From Friday onwards Muni, AC Transit, Golden Gate Transit, and SamTrans have also announced their extended bus Services, accompanied with BART to create a true regional rail network, from Capital Corridor to the East Bay.

Currently, certain positive steps are being taken for making the favorable conditions and positive changes come true.
