MORE MONEY FOR SUNSET TUNNEL IN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

The Sunset Tunnel construction in San Francisco would need more money than expected because of deterioration concrete. The SFMTA (San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency) board unanimously supported additional funding of $3 million to fully repair tunnel concrete walls for safety reasoning. The contracting ProVen Management company is hired to provide work on Sunset Tunnel railway tracking improvement project. The SFMTA staffing report indicates the tunnel needs major repair and seismic overhaul to safely provide power for railway trains. The contracting agency was hired during 2012 and fully assessing the situation, because the Sunset Tunnel railway was built in 1975 and showing deteriorating concrete walls.
