The recent Napa earthquake damaged and destroyed historical buildings in the City of Napa, including damages along freeways and roadways within Napa County geographical areas. The Napa quake provided people and reviewing committee with assessment information, on how the new bay bridge would withstand earthquakes within the San Francisco Bay Area. MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) and Authority Oversight Committee gave high review marks for the new bay bridge during the recent Napa earthquake, although it raised concerns with defective bolts on the new bay bridge. Because defective bridge bolts failed assessment testing during March 2013 on how bolts can retain the bridge from natural disasters including earthquakes.
