CALTRAIN PTC $18.7 MILLION AWARD WITHIN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

The U.S. Department of Transportation is awarding Caltrain $18.7 million for PTC (Positive Train Control) installation for passengers safety onboard. The federal infrastructure funding is issued through FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) with 28 grant funding projects. The federal funding is for 3 projects within San Francisco Bay Area and 1 project in Southern California. The funding allocation for Caltrain project is to build enhancement elements for the PTC safety control system. Including capacity components for the IETMS (Interoperable Electronic Train Management System) for safety efforts validation. The FRA Caltrain funding allocation award is the biggest of therein 4 statewide projects within the Bay Area - to complete a federal mandated safety system.
