CALTRAIN ELECTRIFICATION FUNDING IN SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

The California State Transportation Agency is awarding funding amounts for transportation improvement projects in San Francisco Bay Area and statewide. The Caltrain transit system is getting $20 million to invest in an electrification project to replace diesel equipment for trains. The Caltrain improvement project will provide trains with high-powered electrical systems and saving our natural environment. Transporting passengers faster, quicker and efficient, with more frequent services and significantly reducing emission fuels. Caltrain improvement project was among 41 funding contestants and one of 14 selected projects, and improving transportation infrastructure throughout the state. Partial funding will be through the combination of federal, state, and local agencies including auction proceeds.
