The SMART (Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit) services agency in North Bay receives $81 million award from the State of California for a Bay Area improvement project. The SMART railway train services will be extended to local neighboring communities within northern Sonoma County. The identified award funding amount will be matched by $188 million of federal, state, and local regional funding for thereby SMART railway train services extension project. The SMART services agency is collaborating with Sonoma County Transportation Authority, Regional Climate Protection Authority, and Caltrans (California Department of Transportation). The local collaborating partnership agencies will help extend thereby essential regional railway services, and providing transit options for residents and businesses in North Bay.
