SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA GOVERNMENTS UNITED TO PURCHASE ELECTRIC VEHICLES

The San Francisco Bay Area local government agencies united to set a leadership role, and taking control of local environmental climate by purchasing electric vehicles for local governmental usage. The collaboration of governmental agencies through Bay Area Climate Collaborative purchased 90 electric vehicles, with assistance of 2.8 million dollars grant from MTC (Metropolitan Transportation Commission). The study indicates within five years $500,000 of fuel costing will be saved, and approximately 2 million pounds of fuel emission carbon dioxide will be prevented from our environment with this effort in place. "The bay area is in a leadership role with this here," said Rafael Reyes, Executive Director of Bay Area Climate Collaborative.
